StazaCare Practice Management Platform and Website
A product of Stazalog (Pty) Ltd, Registration No. 2018/235771/07
This Cookie Policy explains how Stazalog (Pty) Ltd, trading as StazaCare ("StazaCare", "we", "us"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our marketing website and the StazaCare practice management platform (together, the "Site"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal information.
1. What Are Cookies
1.1 A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website or application you visit. Cookies allow a site to recognise your device, remember information about your visit or session, and operate certain features correctly. Similar technologies (such as browser local storage) may be used for the same purposes and are treated in the same way in this Policy.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off. They include the session cookie that keeps a User securely logged in to the Platform, and cookies used to protect the security of the Platform (for example, to detect and prevent unauthorised access). Without these cookies, core functionality such as logging in and accessing patient, appointment, and billing records would not be possible.
2.2 Functional Cookies. These cookies remember choices a User makes to improve their experience, such as a selected display theme (light, dark, or high contrast). They are not strictly necessary for the Platform to operate, but disabling them will mean such preferences are not remembered between sessions.
2.3 Analytics and Advertising Cookies. As at the date of this Policy, StazaCare does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies on the Site. If this changes in future, this Policy will be updated in advance to describe the categories of analytics or advertising cookies used, their purpose, and, where required by law, we will obtain your consent before non-essential cookies are set.
3. Cookies We Currently Use
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
| Session cookie (e.g. __session) | Strictly Necessary | Keeps a User securely authenticated (httpOnly, cannot be read by scripts running in the browser); enforces role-based access to the Platform | Session / up to 14 days, as configured |
| Theme preference | Functional | Remembers a User's or Practice's selected display theme (light, dark, high contrast) | Persistent, until changed or cleared |
3.1 All cookies listed above are first-party cookies, set directly by StazaCare, and are not shared with or accessible to third parties.
4. Third-Party Cookies
4.1 When a Practice is directed to PayFast to complete a subscription payment, PayFast may set its own cookies on its checkout pages in accordance with its own privacy and cookie practices, over which StazaCare has no control. We recommend reviewing PayFast's own privacy policy for information about its use of cookies.
4.2 StazaCare does not currently embed any other third-party content (such as social media widgets or embedded video) on the Site that would set third-party cookies.
5. Legal Basis for Cookies
5.1 Strictly necessary cookies are used because they are essential to provide the Platform, and do not require consent under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
5.2 Should StazaCare introduce functional, analytics, or advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will, where required by applicable law, obtain your consent before such cookies are set, and will provide a mechanism to withdraw that consent.
6. Managing Cookies
6.1 Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings, including viewing, deleting, and blocking cookies from some or all websites. Instructions vary by browser; consult your browser's help resources for guidance.
6.2 Please note that blocking or deleting the strictly necessary session cookie described in Clause 3 will prevent you from logging in to, or using, the Platform, as it is essential to authenticate Users and protect Patient Personal Information.
7. Changes to This Policy
7.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including if we introduce new categories of cookies or trackers. We will post the updated Policy on our website and update the "Last updated" date above, and will seek consent in advance where required by law for any new non-essential cookie.
